One-on-One with Ava Cantrell

Hollywood actress, and dancer, Ava Cantrell is looking to broaden her already impressive resume. In an exclusive interview, the young star told us about her long list of projects in the works.

I have a few projects lined up and I am really excited about them.” Cantrell told The Daily Fern. “I will be playing a young army vet as the lead in a short film called "Mission 22" We were slated to shoot this March and of course postponed. I think it will be my most challenging role to date and I feel very honored to be able to be taking on such a difficult role that will bring so much awareness. Every day 22 vets attempt to commit suicide and vets really do not get the credit and help that they need.” She added.

Cantrell is also filming for two other productions, a feature horror film "Abigail", and teen drama "Crestmore."

Despite her busy schedule as an actress, the 18-year-old is still finding time to test her skills behind the camera, as she recently joined the BrandonTV Digital Studio in Los Angeles, as a producer.

“I am also working on Brandon TV as a producer and I hope to make some boss moves as a young female in the industry producing and directing.” The star said.

In addition to acting and producing, Cantrell recently released her own comic book, "The Amulet of Lilith", which follows the journey of a ballerina turned heroine.

"The good and evil pull of the story came from seeing headlines about the rise of anti-Semitism in our present day. Lilith needed that comic book spin though so we brought in the elements of Jewish mysticism, Nazi human experimentation, and the occult. The series will bounce around between the 1940s to present day as we follow Lilith and her quest for revenge and justice. What I love about the art style is that when we see Lilith in the distant past it’s in black and white and the present day is in full color. This project has been immensely satisfying to bring to life."

"The Amulet of Lilith" is currently available on Amazon and Comixology.

Considering Cantrell’s hectic work schedule, The Daily Fern asked her how the recent Coronavirus Pandemic has impacted her daily routine, as millions of Americans are being forced to stay home.

“First of all, I am really proud of our state that was the first to have such serious measures. I really hope that we flatten the curve.” She stated. “Before I talk about what I am doing, I would love to discuss the seriousness of this and how much weight the millennials are going to need to carry. While I feel many young people are doing a great job with quarantine and staying in, some others I feel are not. This is a serious time and not just for our grandparents but for us. We need to all be following the rules.” She Added.

As far as social distancing goes, she says she’s doing as officials say, and staying home.

"What I am doing... I am taking my college classes online, I have put a few auditions on tape, I am working out at home, watching tons of Netflix, hanging out with my parents, playing with my pups, and every night I have a Facetime date with my boyfriend. It's amazing how long we can talk, and I really am trying to make the best of it. I am so grateful to the front line, and the least we can all do is stay home and follow instructions.” She said.

As the Coronavirus keeps the nation on lockdown, Cantrell says all in-person projects have been put on hold, but hope to resume shooting as soon as possible.
